I recently completed a string of Friday night appearances with my trio at my favorite Italian restaurant, Il Capriccio in Whippany NJ. The owner Natale Grande and his staff couldn’t be nicer and more supportive of live jazz. We hope to return there soon. On Friday May 31 I will be returning to my favorite jazz club rated year after year as one of the top 100 jazz clubs in the world, Shanghai Jazz in Madison, NJ. I will be joined by my good friends Grover Kemble on guitar and vocals, Gary Mazzaroppi on bass and Tom Sayek on drums.
On Sunday April 21 my quintet featuring Anton Denner on sax, Bob DeVos on guitar, Martin Wind on bass and Eliot Zigmund on drums performed at the magnificent Concert Hall at Drew University in a concert sponsored by The Discovery Orchestra under the direction of Maestro George Marriner Maull. This was an all Gershwin program that was interactive and explored the ways in which jazz musicians treat popular song. George has developed and perfected a unique approach in the way he presents music to his audience. Working with George in such an outstanding venue and for such a wonderful audience was an extremely enjoyable experience for me and my band and the crowd seemed to really have a good time. Gene did a superb video production of the concert and excerpts are posted on this site.
I had a wonderful concert with my trio featuring Tom DiCarlo on bass and Eliot Zigmund on drums on Sunday Feb. 24 at the Long Hill Public Library. It was a standing room only crowd that was extremely receptive and appreciative. My media specialist, Gene Guerrero did a wonderful video production of the concert; excerpts of which are posted on this site.
